4 steps to relieve your eczema symptoms fast

To get rid of eczema or dermatitis forever by eliminating the internal causes does take some time first of all because everybody is unique and the triggers for each individual are different. Therefore, beside the help from a professional, one would also need to learn and listen to the body’s signal and determine what triggers negative responses, allergies etc. However, until that point I imagine you would first like to relieve your symptoms as quickly as possible. To do this you need to eliminate the biggest triggers that cause eczema and seborrheic dermatitis in the first place, as well as alleviate the inflammation and other symptoms. Here are the 4 steps to relieve your eczema symptoms fast.

4  Steps to relieve your eczema symptoms fast

 1.    Chlorine water filter

The first thing you should do is to install a chlorine filter in your shower, taps or if possible in the whole house. Chlorine is a very harsh chemical in general and it removes the protecting layer of skin. Moreover, if you do have eczema or dermatitis it aggravates the symptoms even more as it dries out your skin. A water softening system would help too if your tap water is unusually hard.

 2.    Avoid traditional dandruff shampoos

These shampoos generally have an ingredient: coal tar. Coal tar has been proved to be a human carcinogen and while these shampoos may provide temporary relief, you may risk long term side effects that may damage severely your skin or scalp. Also the dangers and side-effects just aren’t worth it especially when you can do a lot of recipes at home or you can buy so many natural remedies. Soon I will write on ingredients you should stay away from in shampoos if you have eczema.

 3.    Get rid of the scales

If you do have scales on the skin it is not very hard to clean them. You can use different teas such as chamomile, warm unchlorinated water or oils to remove them. However, if you do have them in your hair you need to make sure you gently eliminate those as they may affect the health of your scalp. Also, make sure you are washing your hair correctly. Use your fingertips and nails to really massage the shampoo deep into your scalp. You need to loosen the scales and flakes until they fall off. But be gentle. Also make sure to let the shampoo sit for at least 5 minutes before rinsing and after rinse very well your hair as you don’t want shampoo residuum left in there. A lot of hair may fall off but you have to remember that for your scalp’s health you need to have it clear from flakes and dry, dead skin.

4.    Use essential oils

In my experience, the best way to get quick and lasting relief from eczema is with certain essential oils. Some very effective essential oils are Tea Tree oil which is very effective against Seborrheic Dermatitis. There are also more oils used for different needs but they need to be well researched before choosing which one to use. For example tea tree oil is very effective but it might have a drying effect on the skin if not combined with other oils as well. Another potent oil is Oregano oil which is one of the most powerful antifungals available and it’s all natural with no side effects. However, you should never apply undiluted essential oils directly to the skin as they are quite potent and can cause irritation and even burn the skin. You need to combine them with what is called carrier oils but this will be the topic of the next post where I’ll detail more about this.

These are four main changes I did when dealing with skin eczema and I recommend you try them out as well and let us know if they work for you. Also, what other changes did you make to relieve your eczema symptoms? We’d like to hear more ideas that we can share with others as well.
